My 3rd Row Headrest Install

All Done! All work completed by:

Mike's Auto Tops & Upholstery
Mission Viejo, CA 92691
(949) 380-9859

Cost will be $275 for all 3 positions in 3rd row and center position in the 2nd row.

Found my headrests and guides through the Expedition forum. Someone was parting out an '03 Expedition with same interior as mine. What luck! Originally bought headrests and guides online from various places. Was 3X as much $$ that way and hard to find the parts! Ended up returning all of those when I got the Expedition parts which I scored for $100 headrests, guides and shipping.

Dropped off 2nd row for center position to be done next week. Will post when that is complete.

Thanks gentlemen! I'm pretty happy and anxious to stick some kids back there now. Props to Todd at shop. They were great there. Have my business when we do some seat recovering eventually.

I'm going to piggy back on this thread so I hope thats ok Mrs Mouse. It doesnt seem like there is a reason to start another one of these threads. Besides this thread is what motivated me to get this done.

I added the headrests to my 3rd row on my 05 eddie bauer. I purchased upgrade aftermarket 2011-2014 Mustang tilting headrests http://www.stage3motorsports.com/11A...drest-Kit.html that matches the black leather with white stitching the 05 eddie bauer excursions have. $250 for a set. Then I ordered 6 black oem mustang headrest guides. CE5Z-54610A16-GB

I used a mag drill to keep the holes I drilled in the straight. I added some reinforcement straps to the bottom of the new tubes the guides sit in. Probably overkill, but I thought what the hell. I also added a car seat teather to the middle of the seat. The factory one and only one is not lined up at all for an upper child seat teather to fasten to.

The only other pointer I have is a 3/4 hole saw with the drill on reverse makes cutting the foam out for new guide tubes much easier.

Then the final product. Sorry for the crappy pictures.

This is a easy and great mod to do. My oldest boy was getting to big for his booster seat, and I wanted some whiplash protection for him in the 3rd row.

Just finished up my third row seats and it came out good. It a good thing for me the welds are all covered up because I made a mess doing it but I got it to work for my first time welding.

The headrests on the end seats are are from a 00 or 01 Navigator the center is my original Excursion head rest. The color and the stitching of the headrests match pretty well.

Now I need to do the 2nd row middle seat head rest.

That looks awesome.

I have a post in the tech thread about the 2nd row middle install. I may be the only one here who has done it. Check it out because there is something I'd do differently.

I really like the navigator headrests. Their size, color and stitching make it a great replacement headrest. I was able to pick them up at the pick-n-pull for about $7 each.
