I'm looking at 2 F-250 trucks. First is a 2006 Lariat F-250 4 door, 6.5 box and diesel engine with 72K miles. It drives fine but feels a little loose in the suspension. Car lot asking $15K
Second truck is 2013 f-250 xlt with the diesel engine. 220K miles but drives and looks brand new. Tons of power and quiet engine. $19K
So the dilemma, older truck, fewer miles, noisier engine or newer truck with lots of miles but great driving, more power, more technology, etc.
Well that 6.0 is going to get 3-4mpg better something to think about. Personally when I shop for trucks, I always try to get the newest truck, with the least miles, that's in the best shape.
This is a tough scenario. My guess is the 2006 you could probably get for 10-12 when its said and done. If your looking at resale, you keeping the truck till it dies, 2-3 years. A few more years on both of these trucks, they wont be worth much.
Hard question. Personally Id have a hard time spending 20k on something with 220k on it. But its 2-3 years old and lots of highway mileage.
check the on-board for the 2013.. the dash has HOUR meter.... both at speed and Idle..
but yes 20k for 200,000 might pass.
I have a Gas.. 2012.. 140,000 miles..
speed hours are 4,100 hours.. that is more than 35 mph average.. so a Freeway truck
and has 600 idle hours.. not bad for a fleet truck. most likely idling during lunches.
Low mileage truck!! It may cost a little up front to fix what is ailing it, but you should get many years of use out of the truck.
At 220k on any truck, constant maintenance will be needed as parts are worn and need replacing. It can 'Nickel and dime' you to death. Of course it cost more than that on these trucks. Newer can mean more gadgets and electronics to fail and be problematic.

tough scenario. The 6.0 will give you better mileage do to the simple fact that it doesnt have emissions crap like the 6.7. id go with the 6.0. Its a lariat with low mileage. Are they both crew cabs?
