Block headers for 410 Merc in a 56 F100

Does anyone have a Mercury 410 FE, or a similar FE setup, in their 1956? If so, what headers are you running or do you know if a set of Sanderson Blockhugger Headers would fit? I just bought a 56 that has fenderwell longtube headers that will not allow me room to lower the truck much because the wheels would make contact with the headers. Or is there a standard set of longtubes that will fit this truck with the 410 and run down the middle?

Thanks much

Just curious, a Mercury 410 FE? Only 410 I know of is a E410 & thats a MEL. whole different animal..
Or is this a 390 FE bored out to 410? If it is a FE engine, I would get a pair of FT
manifolds and be done with it. FT truck manifolds dump in the middle. Exhaust pipes
are available at Napa.

Everywhere that I've read it says it is an FE and the guy I bought it from said the same. Wish I could give you more detail but I am new to classics and these trucks. Not familiar with FT truck manifolds but I will look into them and see if they could possibly work

There was a Mercury 410 FE engine, used in 66-67. It's basically a 390 block with a 428 crank. Can't help you with the header question, tho. Sorry.

Oh ya, I completely forgot about those. So then the next move would be to reseach
the heads and find out if they are the run of the mill FE's if so truck FT will work fine.
Problem is, light duty FE manifolds are in the way of the steering box and the right
side if I remember the top of the chassis has to be trimmed just a pain. Heavy duty
truck (hug the block) and exhaust in the middle easy to spot they have three bolts or studs for the exhaust pipe. I'll check my books on the 410.
for the exhaust pipe.

headers for a 410 Merc

I have a 56 F100 with a 427 Ford which is the same family as the 410, they are all called FEs which includes 352,360,390,406,410,427,&428. The "header" I used on mine is the factory long cast as used in the 63 and 64 Galaxies. Heavy and rare. An unit you can use with a little modification would be factory 361/391 FTs which is the big truck cast header. It is a center dump resembles a rams horn. The mod is having a patch put in the center to stop the exhaust crossover That the truck engine has. These can be had cheap if you can locate a truck yard or some one with a blown motor.

Thanks for the information guys. I'll have to do some research and think about whether I even want to keep this engine for the long run. I was hoping to get into a 428 or 429 but just not anytime soon. The truck currently has a set of custom fenderwell headers and I'm having some flowmasters welded on bc it's ridiculous how loud it is just headers. The only problem is that the headers on the drivers side won't allow me to lower the truck much and a set of custom headers would set me back $1200+. I just want to lower my truck!!! Haha

I will post pictures of the headers when I get my truck back. The shop that is doing the exhaust work says they'd have to redo the entire header so I'm better off going custom.

Does the 410 run?

Is it driveable or a non-runner? I do have a set of the FT castiron headers all ready modified.

Here are the headers. As ou can see, not much room to lower it and it sits high

What is the frt clip?

Looks to be GM, which will affect what headers will go in there. See if you can get a top view of the frame area around the motor mount to see whats in there for clearance.

Here are some pics. Might be too dark but I'll try taking a better one tomorrow. From what I know, it's a volare front end. A dodge/Plymouth. But I'm not an expert...

Hey man do you have a pictures of the headers and how much?

So from my understanding this merc 410 should be a 390 block and if that is the case, I could possibly get a set of Sanderson shorty headers or block huggers depending on which one better fits the truck. I'd prefer full length headers but these will do. Anyone have a 390 and volare front? If so what header style are you running?
