Just wondering, cause I seem too have a fuel restriction.
How many fuels screens or filters are there on my bronco?
I know of the one on the carb. Any others under the frame.
This the 82 bronco 302 w/ c6 auto.
The first time I had problems was in seguin when I coasted into a gas station after running out of gas. Filled it up and got under the underpass to another gas station. The engine would not run long enough to get into gear, and wouldnt stay above 1000rpms. I pulled the filter on the carb and used water andwd40 to wash it out and blew through it to nock crap loose. Put it on and that did the trick.
The next week, I run it out of gas again, coasted in to a gas station, and filled it up but it still hesitated on the throttle.
I havet pulled the filter on the carb yet but I think that it might be the problem since I ran it low on gas again.
I just wasent sure if there was a nother filter under the truck that needed changing also.
While working at Lone Star Ford in Houston I found out about the fuel quality in Texas. While the gas is fine it has tons more debris and sediment in it. One of the first thigs we would check on a drivability issue was the filter. If you ran the truck out of fuel the sediment at the bottom of the tank was picked up by the sock on the pickup. The solution will be to drop the tank and clean it out some. If you can't find a new fuel sock(which can be difficult) then you need to clean the existing sock up as good as you can. Be very careful as they tend to get brittle with age.
