6.7 "Typewriter" tapping noise
I've read of the claimed typewriter noise on the 6.7s some time again. Assuming people are not actually talking about the upper engine noises, my '13 model has never had the tapping noises you can find on youtube and the like. At 80,000 miles, I know have it all the time. It started a couple of thousand miles ago, I had an oil change after it started, and it's been over a thousand miles since that.
Has anything changes in the "normal" response from dealers in the past?

Since this is happening pretty frequently now, I'd recommend making an appointment at your dealership to have the noise documented and diagnosed. Keep us posted on what you decide to do; I'll be able to research ways to help once the dealer has inspected.

A confirmed fix for the typewriter !! - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum
emphasis on the oil and not the filter.....me personally think its all about using a mix blend.....and while the thread talks about 5W40.....on my 6.4 10W30 mix blend got rid of the valve train noises.
