Map Sensor

I have a 95 bronco with a Mass Air 5.0. Am I supposed to have a MAP Sensor? According to my repair manual I'm supposed to have one, but I cant find it. The book provided a location but there is nothing there. I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue and a few things I've read (and also a few mechanics) have said to replace the MAP sensor, but I cant find it. Thanks!

The MAP sensor is only used on speed density Broncos, not mass air.

You're welcome. Do you have an OBD II code reader to assist in trouble shooting?

Yes. Its been about a year since i've tried to fix the issue but if I remember correctly there werent any codes. It wont pass emmisions. Its burning rich, and the idle keeps surging and sometimes it will die. Driving down the road it works fine (although i think it is still rich) but the idle is where it has issues. Last year I gave up trying to troubleshoot it. I decided to take it to a local mechanic shop. They had it for a month and finally told me they couldnt figure it out. The sad part is I spent about 5k on the motor several years back. It used to run great (barely passed emmisions with all the aftermarket parts) and then the 2nd year after the rebuild it wouldnt pass emissions . It seemed to be running fine at that point, it passed the high rpm emissions but the low rpm failed miserably. I parked it for awhile and then the idle surge started happening

I know you said you troubleshooted already but did you check TPS, IAC, O2 sensor etc? Surging idle could be a number of things but I would start there.

1995 would be OBD-I.

Check them by running the Key On Engine Off ( KOEO ) tests and Continuous Memory ( CM ) aka stored code display.

Yeah my mistake, sometimes when talking MAF Broncos I instantly think of 1996 and OBD II.

Since its been awhile since i've looked into the issue I think I'm just going to start from scratch and check everything again. I'll keep this thread updated as I work on it. I should be able to start soon
