I bought these patch panels for my quarters from JBG and they don't have any flare. Are they wrong or are you really supposed to build flare somehow? Is there a source anyone can suggest for a more original patch panel? (I don't want to replace full quarter.)
Repop stampings aren't as crisp as OEM. Once installed however few will be able to discern the difference since they cannot be compared unless another dentside is parked along side.
Thanks. Well, they will certainly scream at me. And they certainly don't match the front fenders. If I can find correct patches, I'll redo it. Just need to find someone that knows where to get correct patches.
Tabco has a pretty good reputation on this forum for supplying quality patch panels. Haven't used them myself, however. Maybe someone who has can pipe in?

I did the rear quarter panels last years with panels from Tabco. The panels were nice and heavy, but didnt fit very good where it wraps around below the tail light, ended up banging out my own corners.
update - JBG has come up with a solution for the passenger side (props to JBG), however, I still need a proper patch for the driver side. I am looking at Sherman and Goodmark now. We'll see what they have to say. I'll check with Tabco - thanks for that lead.
Hit a Jy with a sawzall...FYI the front fenders have the same angle. And it you need more of the lip angle/flare and not way up towards the dent, a patch panel from a front fender will work just fine.
Would you use a beer can to patch your truck? lol A beer can will be thicker and fit better than those panels you got for Xmas. Sorry, I hope the best for you and that I am wrong, way wrong, but I doubt I will be.
The JY would be a great option, except the $30 part would cost a fortune by the time I travel out of the rust belt to get a clean one! I might find someone in a rust free zone to get one for me...
Confirmed. The full quarter and the full fenders have the correct flare. The patches I had (both small and large did not have flare. They were both for 73-79 trucks/broncos.) Sherman parts also confirmed their patch panels will not have the factory flare. waiting to hear from Tabco.
At this point, I might just take Bud Mud's suggestion and replace the whole quarter. Thinner metal, but at least it has the correct or closer exterior surface.
