V10-Time for a Spark Plug Change

1999 E350 V10. I think I'm going to let the dealer or an independent shop handle this as I don't have the time right now. First and only plug change at 50,000 was done by the Blownout Spark Plug guy that used the longer threaded plug and higher torque. Things have been fine. So any recommendations getting this done? Dealer quotes $450.

That seems pretty steep. Do they include a gold watch with that plug change? Parts would be around $50.

I've never changed plugs on a V10, but I assume that its pretty tight under there. Only way I could see that costing that much is if they have to lower the engine to replace the plugs.

They don't have to drop the engine but it is tight. Some are changed from under the hood, some from inside the vehicle. Anyone else change them on their V10?

My local Ford dealer gave me a similar quote. And "$50 for parts" is hilarious. I think it was about $120.

The other $300 was for the 3-4 hours labor.

Maybe 120 from a dealer with a stupid markup. Motorcraft platinum spark plugs are like $3.50 each from a parts store. That is $35 for parts. Even Iridium plugs for the V10 are only like $6.50 to $7 each.

You could buy the spark plugs and all the tools and still be well under $100.
