The Ford kit is totally plug and play. No cutting wires and not even any tapping into wires. Just snapping connectors into harnesses is all.
When I got home today the truck mysteriously would start just fine again. But I now get a "check 4x4" message and it won't shift into four wheel drive. The auto headlights also don't seem to work.
Taking it to the dealership tomorrow to get it diagnosed. These modern vehicles with their CAN BUS networked wiring do some REALLY odd things if one little thing changes.
So today I remote started my truck, got in and dropped my boyfriend off for an appointment and came home. When I shut the ignition to off, the truck kept running!?! I tried: stepping on the brake (without the key in), opening the hood (which usually shuts it off if the key is not in and turned to on), locking the truck 3 times in a row (this will usually shut the truck off), let it run for well more than 15 min (it always shut off after 15 min without the key in and on).
The only way to stop it was to take the lower panels off and unplug the Fortin Evo One. I've unplugged the entire thing and put my truck back together without it. All is well now.
Thankfully it happened in my driveway! It could have been much worse; I was just in Indianapolis for the night where I valet parked the truck at the JW Marriott. What would I have done if the hotel called to say they could not shut my truck off; and I'm out of town!
JUNK! In the garbage it goes!
I wanted to be sure to update this thread. Keep a watchful eye folks. Mine exhibited no prior symptoms before this.
