Ok I'm working on a 2000 7.3 on a F550 truck was running but had no power so we changed out all the injectors and glow plugs and rebuilt the turbo now there is no start it turns over and were getting black smoke from the tail pipe dose anyone has any idea what is going on with it thanks in advance
How long have you cranked on it? If you just had injectors out, you may want to put oil in the oil rails through the holes where the HPOP lines connect. It will help it build ICP quicker. You need at least 10.2ish volts, ICP of 500psi and 100rpms for it to fire. You have a lot of air in the high pressure oil so it will take a while to compress it. The batteries need a good charge to crank enough to compress the air introduced and then build ICP to 500psi, sometimes by then they don't have the voltage to then fire the injectors if you haven't charged them in a while.
Keep charging and cranking, it'll fire. Then when it does, it's going to run rough for about 150 miles or so, then she'll smooth right out. I would highly recommend letting it run awhile with the valve covers off bring it up to operating temps, then re-torque the injector hold down bolts. you will probably get 1/8 to 1/4 more turns on them to bring them back up to 120 in/lbs after the engine comes up to operating temps.
