I'm looking at two choices right now for my towing (10k 5er), Highway and light off-roading needs (construction sites, fall hunting and summer fishing).
I'm set on LT295/70R18 for the size, looking at either the new Michelin LTX M/S2 Defender or the Nitto Terra Grappler G2, but I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on those choice in terms of wear, noise and performance. I've looked at the Cooper ST Maxx and also Toyo Open Country AT2 Extreme but both of those seem to get plenty of complaints about being noisy - I get enough of that from my studded GY Duratracs that I use during the winter!
I'm partial to these below. I have run 3 sets now on 3 different trucks. a 95 250, 05' 250 and my current '06 350. They are great in the winter, awesome offroad, and quiet on the highway. Easily get well over 50,000 on a set. On my '05 I put 30,000 on in about 15 months and they had over 50% tread left.
Michelins are a good choice. Just make sure that there is a pretty recent make date as there was a recall a while back on some of their tires for cracking around the rim.
