Okay so I have a 2000 v10 excursion with 200,xxx miles on it and every now and then the theft light rapidly blinks and won't let the truck start... I got two NEW keys programmed by ford to try to fix the problem, and still no luck, I replaced the battery, and fixed the shifting column ... After all these "fixes" the problem persists... The theft light however will stop blinking rapidly if I put the steering wheel all the way up in the highest notch... So I'm not sure if it could be a pinched wire or what?
PLEASE HELP ME ASAP!!!!!
Is there anyway to just get rid of pats, I don't care if its "unsafe" I'm tired of dealing with it, and don't want to remove a chip from the key to "bypass" the system, I feel like the wire is the issue, but I've looked and it doesn't appear so, is there anyway to "hotwire" it so there is no pats completely?
You'd have to install a tuner and have a custom tune set up that deletes the PATS feature. Otherwise, you're going to need to fix it, whether you like it or not.
Pull apart the cladding on the column
Plastic had 3 screws on the bottom if I remember, you have to key on and shorty to neutral, so be sure where you are parked.
Look at the wire that goes to the shifter for the overdrive selector
Could be worn through and cause fire issue, it's a problem where the wire ribs through as the shifter is moved over years of use

That's a completely different issue that causes completely different symptoms. It does NOT affect the PATS system, the subject of this thread.
