There are also issues with a lumber rack if you need one.
We needed the lumber rack (we got Rack-it), and got the ARE shell because the ARE shell could be taken on/off without unbolting the lumber rack. Could not do that with the Leer because it stuck out the sides too much.
Went looking at cab high toppers this weekend. I have a 2016 with 6.5 bed , was told only 15-16 models would fit due to shape of tailgate. Looked at a ARE but did not like the cheap looking and thin plastic flap that covers the top of the tailgate. I'm going to check out Leer and Snug top this weekend. Any body have any opinion's on any of these brands. I have found good and bad things said about all of them online this weekend.
Thanks,

I have a ARE MX on my 2015 6.5. I had to wait 8 weeks for it because they had to make new mold for the 2015.
Yes the lip on the door is a pain as is the dumb lip on the tailgate.

Love to see a close up picture of your cap around the tailgate area. Any problems with the fit or leaks around the windows. I have not seen one installed on a truck yet , just sitting on the rack at dealer. Love the looks of your cap.

Fit is good Windows don't leak, only things I hate are the door opening is much lower than my other Century caps of this design making it harder to get in back and to load my rotertiller now I have to remove two bolts and lower the handle. The lip makes it uncomfortable to open and close the door. And doesn't seal very well at the corners where it meets the tailgate.
Looks right side up on my iPad! Which is what I posted it with ((" Update" But upside down on my laptop.). Gee another thing I have to try and fix..) That's a old picture I took to show how hard it is to get your hand on the handle to pull it open. Before you get to the point that it will open its self the rest of the way the lip is digging into your wrist.
Here is a picture of it right now still packed with the frozen wet snow we had last weekend. I haven't driven the truck since last Friday when I drove up here to the cottage. But today I did have to get something out of the back and let me say all that frozen ice - snow on the door & lip is very heavy.
You can see hanging down the strap I had to add to it so I can reach the door to pull it down to close it. Being as I'm only six foot three I couldn't reach it any easier than my five four wife could.

Reason: Upsidedown on laptop so you guys weren't standing on your heads!
Had an Extang Encore installed along with a bed rug on my 2015 Lariet Sport with 6.5 bed. Love that I can access front separately and a great compliment to the integrated side bed step.
Totally different for what I use it for. I did find a roof rack that can be put on the truck roof (temporary one) also for added length of carrying an extension ladder.
rmccbride Thank you so much for the pics! It really helps understand how they fit. There are so many options these days we really have to ask what we want to use everything for. I have used a topper for the past 10 years and miss it on my current truck during the winter. Snow in the bed, washing the truck I have to remove my ladders out of the bed ect.
You might consider the ARE DCU aluminum toppers as well. Having their own rear door versus needing to sit on top of the tailgate really helps. I have one on my current truck, and will be installing one on the new truck as soon as it arrives... and have built several mobile communications vehicles using them in the past, and have been very pleased.
