Truck security plug

First off HAPPY NEW YEAR
ok so I would like to install a security style plug for my truck using the power connections for a computer tower. I want to splice in said plug assembly into the ignition coil to be able to interrupt the signal. The truck had a security system but no longer works. There is a wire splice in for the security system. So can I cut that wire and wire in my system? Pictures enclosed.

These are the power connections for computer tower.

The wire comming off ignition coil wire to splice in plug assembly.

I don't see why that would not work, although I might do that to the power wire to the ECU relay instead. That will shut down ignition as well as fuel. Also it's right on the fender and so easier to access if something goes wrong and you need to jump it.

You can tear apart a computer for the parts. Any electronics hobby store should have the parts individually. More Radioshack then Best Buy though.

If you look on the back of your computer tower where the power cord plugs into. I just removed the power fitting from the tower and cut the cord at the end.

You don't happen to know what color or where it's located? That might be a better idea.

Great Idea! Where's a good place to kill a 7.3 with one of those things?

or just put a simple toggle switch hidden under the dash that interrupts the ecm power

And your point is what? You typically take your keys with you when you leave the truck but now you want to add a second?

Exactly- something happens, it get's misplaced and you're SOL until you can find a Radio Shack or a spare computer laying around.

Excellent idea but a discreet toggle seems much simpler, less prone to Murphy's Law.

Or you could wire it to have either a spad or torpedo connectors so if you do miss place it you can undo the set up till you find it. OR have a second plug as emergency which I have 3 complete set ups

Yeah but thieves probably look for hidden switches. I wouldn't do either of the things suggested here so far. Instead, I'd do something no late-night tweaked-out neighborhood meth addict would think of, such as installing a 12V cig lighter/power receptacle somewhere completely obvious and convenient to reach from the driver's seat just like a normal receptacle would be. But instead of wiring power to it, run your ignition or ECM power feed thru it and get a cig lighter plug with it's terminals jumpered together internally to use as the plug.

If you do happen to lose your plug, you can always shove a penny or something in there followed by a crumpled up gas station receipt to hold it in place. Hell you could just keep a spare plug in your truck... nobody would think "put this in there to start this truck" and if a thief gets in your truck, it will look just like a normal power point.

And if you're dealing with professional thieves instead of late night crackheads, well NO security system will stop them because those guys typically just show up with a tow truck and your ride is "Gone In 60 Seconds".
