Ok guys its time for some more power and better pulling. I have compiled a list of wants based on what i have read on here and just wanna know yalls opinion on everything. My truck is a 95 f350 crew, auto trans, 7.3. Truck is mainly used to pull my vendor trailer across country and it kinda struggles with it. Trailer is a 20ft x 8.5 and i think its like 10 foot tall maybe. Ill attach a pic
Anyways ill post my list and would like feedback on best options for my setup. Let me know what yall think!
Efuel (would rather buy a kit but which one??)
T500 HPOP
Rosewood Stage 1's
Custom Tunes
S366 turbo
Cx racing intercooler kit off ebay
Somebody else told me i should look into headstuds valve springs and push rods as well????
Anything else i am missing or should look into or change? I am wanting a lot of power but more importantly dependability pulling my trailer. I should also note that in a year or so i plan to upgrade to a 45 foot gooseneck trailer
You won't need the ic kit with the 366. The t4 kits come with the ic plumbing. You will just need the ic from a sd 7.3 or 6.0. On the fuel kit I always liked the diesel site kit. I patterned mine similar when I built it. You should do head studs, pushrods, valve springs for the dependability factor. It will get with it with those upgrades and tow very well.
Also, what about your auto trans? Has it been upgraded? You're going to be increasing your HP to 350 or more with a transmission designed for 225 or so HP. If it's stock it won't hold on for long.
Diesel site is actually the name of the site: http://www.dieselsite.com/dieselsite...97ford73l.aspx Also, what about your auto trans? Has it been upgraded? You're going to be increasing your HP to 350 or more with a transmission designed for 225 or so HP. If it's stock it won't hold on for long.
Definately gonna go with that kit. Im not sure the history of the truck or the trans. My local mechanic said it acts and shifts like its had some work so i guess im gonna ride it til it comes apart, unless i end up having enough money in the budget to get a new one.
What are the names of the transmisions companoes that sell our transmissions already built and bullstproof? I know there are a couple
If your truck is struggling to pull a small trailer like that with the updrades you have done then there has to be something else going on as well. I would look into making sure your exhaust side from the heads to the collector is leak free, and your intake plenums are not leaking. The bellows with the t4 kit will substantially help in the future for the exhaust side.
The big rims may be hindering it a little but I'd find that hard to believe with 4.10s in the truck. I assume being a dual they are likely 4.10s
The biggest and most expensive part I did not see on that list is your tranny. Throw 35+ psi at a brand new stock tranny pulling any weight it won't last you one trip. You are going to have to upgrade your trans, especially if you plan on pulling a 45' goose.
If you do plan pulling a 45 footer, I'd be willing to bet you crack those rims fairly quick with the low profile tires and the added pin weight. Its just an opinion from experience. A bunch of the local welders crack them like pop rocks around here after they go with big rims and load the bed with 2-3k lbs. Its an expensive lesson... maybe you will get lucky!
As mentioned find a 6.0 cooler of CL and the T4 kit comes with everything else you need. You have a good list there of mods. Your truck will likely be on par with a brand new 6.7 in the power department when you are done with it. The 7.3 will tow anything all day long, however getting it to stop fast is what I have found to be its biggest fault :-)

I know i need a transmission, hopefully ill have enough left in the budget. I dont think my truck struggles really but u can tell its back there on interstate, i also have a heavy foot which hurts me. But truck will only go about 70-74mph with my trailer behind it without egt's and even sometimes engine temp getting too high. As far as the wheels, i know they weigh me down but they will stay. I have pulled a 52' 3 car wedge before loaded down with around 20k counting trailer and load. Truck didnt like it, wheels didnt seem to mind tho haha
There is a trans cooler on the truck now, im told its a pretty good size one
Get a gauge! I upgraded but had no gauge. When I got one I found out I had been killing it for 4 years. Big trucool or 6.0 trans cooler. Small parts store jobs will not help. Speaking from experience...
I make more power than that and so far my stock trans is just peachey...how long lol who knows. I'm easy on my junk and my trans runs cool.
Get the power stuff and trans cool then worry about it later lol
