H6054 headlight conversion housings
I noticed there are two distinct housing styles:
With a reflective cone in the center.
And
Without the reflective cone in the center.
Im wondering if one actually does any better at lighting the road and street signs then the other style.

I've heard nothing but fantastic reviews of AutoPal conversion housings in both DOT and ECE standards. Here is a review of the ECE version for Left-Hand Drive vehicles, installed on a Jeep Cherokee:
When I have some time and space on the project books, I'll be retrofitting these to my RX-7 as well.

The Ebay Diamond cut housings like you are suggesting are generally not focused well, throwing light every which way, while the Autopal ones have a crisp laser-sharp cutoff that works quite well with HIDs. Going from memory, I'd say that the Autopal/HID setup he used was as sharp and crisp as my friend's 350z's factory HIDs
Unfortunately, the pictures seem to have disappeared from his website since he passed away in 2009. We're still trying to get in touch with his family to correct this though. In the meantime, if you're up for doing a comparison picture set, everyone would love to see the results too. Just be sure to use the same camera settings and operating voltage for an objective test.

And under the hood
The sequential twin turbo control system is my own design, created and proven to work before I translated the official vacuum diagram into English from the unobtanium Eunos Cosmo Service Manual.
Here's the same engine found in a Eunos Cosmo, albeit with a single turbo conversion. Watch the speedometer closely in how fast it jumps from 100 km/h (~62.5mph) to 180+km/h (112mph+) and that's running through a 4-speed automatic circa 1990. Just over ONE SECOND...
