I haven't done the conversion but here's a kit.

I bought the Hella H4 Off Road Halogen Light conversion. If you go this route, go ahead and invest in an upgraded headlight harness with relays, and the Hella 55W/100W bulbs. They aren't "street legal", but if you can get away with using them, they are brutal on dark roads. I have a lot of deer around my house, so I wanted to get the brightest lights I could find.... I have them now!
There are some thread s on the forum that detail this conversion. You don't get the pretty blue light that HID's give, but you also don't get the patchy all-over-the-place light pattern that a lot of HID lights have, either.
I can tell you from experience that the 55 watt low beam / 100 watt high beam bulbs are incredibly bright. I wouldn't want to be driving in front of me with the high beams on.
Depending how in depth you want to get with them retro-solutions should be able to get you any and everything you need. They are not the cheapest by any means, but from what I have noticed over the years they are one of the best to deal with and offer discounts for forum members on various other sites I am on. http://retro-solutions.net/product-l...category_id=94
