I'm building a 68 ranger and have already installed a CV Front suspension. I'm ready to do mock up for motor mounts and steering now but want to mock up with headers.im using a 351 w . Hoping someone on here has done this already and can save me some time and money. The engine builder just told me long tube 1 5/8 headers

Welcome to FTE!
I don't remember seeing a 351W/C.V. swap header post. If nobody chimes in might I suggest Mustang Shortie headers? These would miss the motor mount stands. Dunno if you're going to have clutch linkage though.
I wll be running a c6 thought I might try some 351w long tubes for a mustang.
Pro max in Alabama is building the motor should have somewhere around the 600 hp range won't really know till its dynoed . Already changed the rear to a coil over ladder bar system.gonna check some threads on here to install a tank under the bed behind the rear axel
A 600hp 351? Holy cow that's gonna be a screamer. Is it going to be a stroker motor or a true 351? Care to elaborate about what's being done to it? I can't imagine a 600hp engine not using 2" primary tubes.
Hey I have a 351w with AOD and I'm using the 66-77 long tube headers. I had the Mustang shorties and just switched to these Hedman Bronco headers and they are way better. A good muffler shop can work the exhaust around the tranny mount if your using a C4/AOD.
Good luck on your build
The only trouble of having 400-600 hp is have to drive the 25-35 mph speed limits.
Plus you'll be getting 6-8 mpg to drive the same as a vw with 36hp..

That's why i find it so ironic when people buy a Shelby mustang or Srt dodge and never even floor it. They drive it more gently than they would a 4cyl econo-box car. If you have a muscle car or hot rod, you're supposed to drive it as such! If I had a mustang (and someday I will) I'd drive the hell out of it!
Trust me I will drive mine that's what it's built for , not tooling back and fourth to the grocery store. 351 c4 it will be a stroker full roller patriot heads. I didn't really understand the small primaries either but that's what the engine builder said to get
427? Smaller primary tubes help with velocity and torque, but high displacement high rpm engines need to breathe! I don't know who your builder is or what his credentials are, but I'd surely be using 2" primary headers. (But then again I'm not a professional engine builder)

Would you happen to have the part number on the headers?
