powerstrokehelp.com - 6.0L

New to the forum and Ford really....always been a GM guy. (don't roast me yet - I am thinking about coming to the dark side) I am looking into getting a 2005 Excursion with a 6.0. I am in research mode right now as I typically do a ton before I jump into things.

With that said, what are your opinions on Bill over at powerstrokehelp.com for 6.0L knowledge? I have been watching quite a few of his videos and really like him - seems like an honest guy and knowledgeable. Overall he's on the money, yes? Just want to make sure I am on the right track.

Ha, yep....had a 99 LS1 TA for years. Got her running really well, real low 11s and then sold her....house - kids - that sob story. lol

Thanks for the welcome and the link, much appreciated

So what's up with that. Why are the guys on powerstroke so bad. I have watched several of thier videos seem like good info. The guys can be abrasive but so to know their stuff. I would love to find a good honest guy to work on my truck . Seems like these guys are right on target.

Like other people mentioned, diesel tech ron has good informative videos and he isn't trying to sell anything. Powerstrokehelp over charges and over sells his product. But people still keep going to him, so who can blame him?

I do have to agree with Bill on his "what year powerstroke is best?" video though.

To be fair Ron does sell stuff, he just doesn't come across as the used car salesman who chases you down at the lot the second you park the car. I had no problem donating to Ron back when I bought my truck and asked him some questions, and will also add he takes the time to made vids that actually help folks out instead of causing them to wear ear plugs.

Bill will make a few good and valid points and then here comes the one that is totally wrong and will cost you big if you follow it. If you have no experience with the 6.0 and can't distinguish between the facts and bull, stay away.

I'm a former GM guy,Excursions are a great rig, especially if they have the 6.0 in them.READ the stickies up top and get all your knowledge to make your final choice, then come here to show it BEFORE you buy, so we can help you make a GOOD choice. Then you can go out and roast some ricers once you get it right!

The thing that cracks me up the most about that video is 6 years ago the 6.0 was the worst engine you could put in a pick up...STAY AWAY. That may or may not be a direct quote from Mr. Hewitt himself. Now all of a sudden its the best option in a modern pick up. I cant believe I watched that video when it was posted before, I wanted to reach through my screen and throat punch him.

Guys a clown,

Sarge
