This is my first post, and I am new to forums. I have a 99 f250 superduty 4x4 7.3 super cab I got on a trade a little over a year ago and I've always wanted one. Well right after I got it I had to have the Trans rebuilt. The guy did it for $1400 with a new tci torque converter and **** kit etc... with a 1 year 12000 mile warranty with roughly 4000 miles left on it and it has done "okay" until last night it slips bad in every gear but reverse. So I contacted the guy who did the work and he's out of business, and can't seem to find a place to repair my truck like he should so do any of you know what else I can do as far as him taking responsibility for this ?? Please help and thank you
$1400 is super cheap, I'm not even sure how that is possible, no wonder he's gone. The diesel performance shop in my area rebuilds those for 3000-3500. Its done right with upgraded parts. If you post where you are located maybe someone on here can help you out in your area.
Take it into a reputable ATRA certified trans shop so they can read the line pressures. Pressures are the correct way to troubleshoot a hydraulic pump...aka automatic trans. Dont drive it like this, you will start destroying the hard parts. If the shop that went out of business was ATRA certified you might inquire with ATRA to see if they can help? At minimum they can recommend a reputable shop within your demographics. Just a shot in the dark. But do the proper troubleshooting methods/steps rather then going directly towards catastrophic failure. You could save yourself a bunch of Benjamins
Do you belong to a towing club such as AAA? Many shops have stated warranties, however, if it's a certified garage for the towing company, such a AAA, they include a 24 month, 12,000 mile warranty, regardless of the shops warranty.
