I see that CABT cuts the truck cab at the doors then splices in the EX body. Is that really necessary. Why not just cut the fire wall out instead of splicing the roofs together? Trying to get a handle on what really needs to be done for this swap and if it's worth it or not.

On the 6-Door Excursions:
Because there is nothing in the (factory) Super Duty/Excursion world with a roof long enough.
On just the front-end conversions:
Because their conversion is more than just exterior sheet metal- it also includes the newer engine/transmission and the complete newer electrical system and dash. It would take substantially longer to swap all that over then troubleshoot to make sure it all works than it would to just take the entire door-forward from a newer truck.
MY QUESTION IS- for those who just want newer front sheet metal only, are the firewalls the same between newer trucks and older? In other words, could the inner fender supports be removed from the newer and spot welded to the older? If so, it would seem a lot more "correct" than stacking washers and fabbing for a fit.
Parking at the Gold Mine is a bit challenging when I go there alone. There isn't any! Also, it gets pretty muddy after it rains. It is a mud-hole right now...
Lots and lots of great parts for a conversion like what is being talked about here, though. Call and talk to Abe or Bruce. Tell them what you are looking for, and they can give you a heads up when they get something in fitting the bill for your project.

So this thread has me thinking that IF I had the money what would I do/get? Well, I apparently have a borderline unhealthy fascination with the Wamar XUV, and I just found a video showing one!
BTW, when I was considering this I had priced out the F350 Platinum. Figured if your going to do this you might as well get it with the heavier suspension and have all the toys that Ford has to offer

Why did you decide against it? I think it would be great to have a new X!

I just feel like I'm done with it, I'm going to make a few changes in the garage and driveway in the near future.
For one I will be trading in our Range Rover sport to a new style full size Rover, that will pretty much take care of my needs for a SUV in the household.
The Benz's will be going next week also, I really prefer the Bentley's for my special occasion rides. For the most part it's just me and my wife so roomy back seat is not a requirement.
Another reason is I've been thinking about life again my age and my health in general. I should drive something spectacular everyday so, I may go crazy and just get the ghost as my daily driver.... I've rented them in the past and even went to a gathering that was 3 hours away once in one. The ride is unmatched, comfort is totally a different level and you only live once
Third reason, my driveway and garages just can't handle all of these cars and wife does not want to move. I dropped off 2 cars at a friends business where he has a private garage while I was on vacation. Tomorrow I will go get my babies and bring them home.
Overall the price of a new excursion the way I would want one is close to that 140k figure that's almost what I paid for the white Bentley which I prefer.

Don't think I will spend 140K on that, figured 100 might be alright for me. Usually don't buy new vehicles as I can't stand the depreciation, pisses me off too much. In this case though there is no alternative.
I applaud your selections. Where I live now too country, and I would look out of place with a B or RR of F Car. :-0
