What are some good bolt on mods for my 79' 460 to increase my power? Would a cam be worth it without other stuff on the inside? My smog crap has already been disabled a long time and taken off and I have replaced the Carb with a better one and I'm currently running with no muffler. Anything else I can do or no?
Yeah, what they said. Also, you check the casting number on your cylinder heads. Some castings had a very large combustion chamber which equals low compression. Keep your eye out for D0VE C heads. They are small combustion chamber factory castings and can be had fairly cheap. Also, if your engine was originally an emissions rig, you can port the snot out of your exhaust ports without running into a coolant passage. The emissions heads had what they called a "thermact-air" system (basically a post-exhaust air-injection system) that had huge bosses which almost occluded the exhaust ports. You can grind those suckers right out of there to drastically improve flow.
