Working on a 92 F150 4.9 . Has anyone here ever ordered injectors from ebay? I see some rebuild sets of 6 out there for $101-$140 various sources . Think mine may be "bricked" from sitting. After striping the oring and filters and soaking in berrymans for several days, I'm only getting a slight ping sound with a momentary switch, and nothing wants to flow thru them either direction. I can provide ebay seller names if needed. I'd really like to solve this problem or set the truck ablaze soon . Please let me know what you guys think-Thank You --George
Have purchased Bosch EV-1 injector rebuild kits from there.
It sounds like you've also used the directions in the "sticky" at the head of this forum.
If you have, you probably read not to power open the injector with 12 volts DC, but use a 9volt battery.
I find it very difficult to believe that all your injectors do not flow either direction when properly powered, unless something unusual, NOT attributed to the vehicle, happened.
I've modified the directions in that tutorial in two ways for myself. due to my personal tastes/misgivings:
1) Do not soak for days, that was a preference of the writer, remember he said the directions called for like an hour. I prefer the lesser time. That Berryman's cleans it out.
2) Blow out with air pressure below 50psi. These injectors were never meant to see pressures of 90+psi.
I find it odd too. The only thing I may have done to screw things up was soaking them in gumout spray at first . The fuel pump went out on this truck way back in '08 and it had been sitting in the garage ever since. I have in the past freed up some injector in a 95 lesabre using the same methods, also some spider injectors in a couple s-10 blazers , but this one has me perplexed to say the least. I dont get the ticking from the injectors like I'm used to hearing from those other cars, just a sort of ping, but they all check out at 13.9 to 14.1 ohms on my initial check before doing anything. Used 9v battery only with a momentarty switch with about 20psi of air. Shame is this truck only has around 40K miles on it. I'm about ready to roll the dice on some cheap rebuilts...at least I'm protected by ebay if it goes bad. Thanks much for your reply
