The cross-member up by the cab rotted off and took a small chunk of the frame with it. I bought section from the Junkyard and am going to weld it in tomorrow, once I get some help lifting the bed off in the AM.

I've been putting it off for a while... but I finally have a few days to it. I may make a thread for it, we'll see how it goes.
Hello killacal,

Your doing a better job than me. A bunch of years ago my '72 had the rotted front crossmember, frame was good. I shooved a 2x4 into good part of the cross member drilled a hole and put the bolts back in. Held from '97 in till I sold it in '13.

The bed is completely free now (and I only trashed one T50 socket doing it). It seems pretty light, We're going to try and slide it off with some 8 ft 4x4's I've had laying around.

Thanks,

I'm into this truck for short money, and it's got low miles on it (120k on a 00'). I'm going to mount a minute mount plow I have to it, and use it to tow stuff to the junkyard / dump... so I thought it was worth fixing.

I love how cheap parts are for these trucks. I just did both manifolds, plugs, wires, front brakes, rotors, belt, an upper ball joint and a few tie rods. I think I'm into it for $350 bucks or so in parts, plus what I paid for the truck. It should be pretty reliable for a few yrs after I finish this.

Do you guys ever have meets at New England Dragway? I am up there a lot during the summer and have seen several diesel trucks.

Not that I am aware of.

I used to go there with the Ford Focus group but that's all ancient history now

I haven't been to the track in more than a few years now.

I told my boss I made it one step out the door and almost turned around and called in sick.
The Ranger fired right up like it was 40 degrees out.

I forgot about that.

I moved to Northwood but my Mom still lives about 10 minutes away

I'm at NHMS once a month during the summer trying not to hit cones
