Just bought a '80 F250 ext. cab 4x4 w/460. It doesnt start anymore using the key. I jumped it from the batt. to the starter relay & it starts. I checked all the fuseable links, thier agood as well. I followed out the electrical schematic & noticed it runs through the nuetral safety switch. If this is bad could it cause this problem ? Am I safe in thinking that I could disconnect & jumper the wires to test ? Never seen a nss, always had np435. Thanks
Whoops !!! I didn't realize that I left some info out , sorry for the confusion. It has an AT (c6). As well the NP435's of the past were in a '74 & '79. I thought the nss on those was the lurch fwd. & the string of obsenities that followed . Thanks for trying to make heads or tales out of this Million.
Okay then, try the same thing from Park....to nuetral a few times.
You might also want to try putting a jumper wire on the harness instead of going through the Safety switch.
This will confirm whether not the igintion switch works and if the safety switch is faulty.
I think It's a Pink/white wire
