I don't get why so many people like these newer mirrors. I personal don't like the look of them, but not only that, the bottom mirror is big, and you don't have much of a top part of the mirror to use. I don't know, maybe I just haven't drank the kool aid on them, but I don't get it.
I thought they nailed it with '99 to '07 mirrors, especially with the '04 to '07 with LED markers.

I concur. Although I would sure like the power folding option on mine!
Seems like I use the bottom more than the top, I like the larger blind spot mirror on the newer ones. The top mirror is still 2x the size of every other car I've driven.
I'll keep the jelly beans until they break because I'm cheap, but I definitely wouldn't replace them with identical ones. Unless I got a good deal from someone upgrading. Again, cheap
I wanted to switch over to the '08 style before and then got the chance last spring when I tagged the passenger mirror in a late snow storm.
I got a set from 1Aauto.com, power fold option. Plug and play about 30 min. to put both in. another 15 to cut a spot for the fold switch. Great quality and a huge improvement in visibility both on the top flat mirror and the bottom convex mirror. I did not take a tape measure to them but my eye says the new mirrors are larger up top as well.
I like the looks of the later style mirrors, to me they are more "truck like" and less ergonomic like a Tarus. I got a pair from SuperDutyService after hanging my origonal driver side on the garage door and damaging it. First trip right out of the driveway with the 5th wheel in tow the difference was obvious. The extra viewing area fills in a lot more than you might think, especially on the passenger side. I guess it wouldn't be real noticeable if you weren't towing, but with an 8ft wide load hovering over the back of the truck they are a big improvement.
I phrase it to people like this,, the bigger mirrors are like a king size bed. It take up more room,, but once you have one,, a queen size will never do.
I drive a 2012 3/4 ton at work and love them. Also have them on the 2012 450 box truck, the bottoms on these style mirrors are very handy for backing up and I would be lost without them after getting so used to it.
That said I think they look butt *** ugly on the older trucks.
That's just my opinion and we all know they are like >>!@#$, everyone has one.
my f350 does not have the towing mirrors. i dont know if it came from the factory like that or if someone swapped them off a f150 or what. they are power adjustable. an work. if anyone wants here doesn't tow and wants the smaller mirrors id be open to a trade. ill take pictures of them if anyone is interested just thought i would throw that out there.
or if someone would like to sell there stock tow mirrors if they upgrade i would be interested.
