I have a 1988 Ford E350 Dually with a 460MPI/C6 that hauls my fifth wheel trailer.
My problem is that when the engine heats up the response from the throttle from a stop and trying to get up some speed from any speed when you mash the peddle it falls on its face until it catches up with itself. When cold runs great.
I put on a flow master mufller with 3" exhaust after the cat.
It has a K & N filter, had code 32 in it, replaced egr and evp, no change. Took it to the ford dealer all test were "inconclusive"
another words they found nothing wrong with it.
After replacing the egr and the evp did your code 32 go away? I like to start with fuel pressure / codes/ and ignition system / what did ford have for test results?
If the engine runs great when cold but has no power when hot, I would replace the ECT sensor. If the sensor is reporting the engine is always cold the computer will supply the correct fuel when cold but be pig rich when hot.
"Big bronco" has got a point, if you dont have meter to check it they are cheep just replace it. But thats a big spread on fuel pressure test results, do you see black smoke out the pipe or a rotten egg smell when its acting up. Any other new habits when it 's not running properly? ( very important when trying to diagnose) Domenico...
Bronco,
I put an etc sensor will let you know how it runs, need to give good test.
Domenico,
No black smoke or rotten egg smell,
thanks for asking

I do have another ? Why is there a restriction at the intake, I am talking about the funky looking twin horn piece, what does it do and why is it there.
Well I put in the etc sensor, we went for a 400 mile road trip, and the engine ran great while the engine temp was even cooler. Thanks for all your help

That is its intended purpose, but all it really does is choke off your engine. I cut the horns off of mine and left just enough on to clamp the hose to. It made a world of difference, on take off and on high end.
