So where was I hmm Oh so as you could tell from the flinstone holes I ordered some new floor pans and in the process of welding those in I've decided to move the gas tank to under the bed still have to get one of those. My dash was on its last life so I'm thinking about keeping the metal look and just welding up the holes. I'm currently searching for a donor truck so I can get some power disk brakes and a new radiator support. Last night I took off the master cylinder and steering column it looks like the steering column isn't original and I found a hole in the floor that I'm not 100% what it was for it had a crappy patch on it only thing I can think of is it used too have 3 tree. Maybe one of you might know?

Here's a quick picture of my dad's 65 and my dog marshmallow the corgi lol

I think you are right about the bed I was questioning that a while back but I wasn't 100% sure on it but from reading that article it seems to be have changed out before... The more I tear her down the more I find and get a bit more confused for instance I found this hole that had a very crappy patch to it on the floor of the cab which looked to be for a manual 3 on the tree set up I could be mistaken. But I do know the grille was replaced and isn't the correct one but that is for sure not going back on. Either way I call her a 69 because the government tells me that's what she is and they never lie

I decoded the vin and this is what I found out
F10YRF34xxx

F10-2wd f-100
Y-360CID,8-cyl
R-San Jose, CA
F34xxx- Jun. 1969

The mystery shall continue!
Thanks. My truck is far from perfect but it could have been a lot worse. I spent 5 months looking for a Bumpside when I found this one. The biggest selling point was that it had a solid body.

I don't know if the data you have came off the warranty tag on the door (?). The F34,xxx consecutive build unit would have been during June, 1969 --as you noted. My truck is an E15,xxx assembly date.

However, since the grille and the bed don't match that of a '69, it COULD be that actually only the door (along with its tag) was changed and that the grille and the bed are the correct items --in other words, it COULD actually be a '72 with a '69 door.

IF the frame has not been replaced, it's the only thing that would difinitively tell what the truck is. Since you're taking the front sheet metal off, you may be able to see at least one of the two VIN stamps on the front right side frame rail to compare against the door tag, to see if they do or don't match.

The hole in the floor board is for a mechanical clutch linkage rod that would have connected between the clutch pedal and the bell crank.

The column looks like it's at least a '70-'72 model, since that's when they went from a painted gear selector lever (for an automatic) to the chrome gear selector lever. My '69 had the (black) painted gear selector although now, I have a tilt column from a '78 that has the factory chrome gear selector lever.

Ultra!! Thank you I'll be looking at that later today when I get back at her after work This could answer many questions that I have. I was just looking at the Door tag which could have been replaced. I never thought about that I just assumed that the grille didn't belong, dang it now I just want to get off work and go spend some quality time with my baby!! Ill let you know the findings later tonight hopefully we can put an end too the mystery! Thanks again by the way your the real MVP!

The plot thickens! many things don't add up here do they...the more we look at it the more it looks like the door was replaced especially with the hole for the clutch linkage the tag on the door says it was and automatic which wouldn't fit with the floor hmmmm

I saw something else from one of your photos that points back to an earlier model truck, at least as it relates to the cab. These trucks were available with shoulder belts --although I've never actually seen one of these trucks equipped with factory shoulder belts.

In '67-'early '71, the bolt hole for the upper belt bracket was located on the inner, back portion of the cab beside the back window.

In the mid-year '71-'72 models, this bolt hole location was moved around to the side of the cab, just behind the rear edge of the door.

Your cab could be a '69 or, it could be at least as late as an early '71.

Also, '67-'70 speedometers had a red line running underneath from 70 MPH to 100 MPH. '71 and '72 speedometers didn't have this red line.

Whatever model it is, it's a nice looking truck.

This is my '69 F100 Ranger. No lighted side marker lights on the bed.

Ah, Ultra, the bed can be original for a 69 with marker lights as stated by ND, the Oracle, in this and several other posts:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...er-lights.html
It is 69's at #F70,001+. Fordification is wrong.

According to the information, supposedly the F serial numbers in August, 1969 runs from F50,000 through F63,999 --stopping well short of the 70,000 mark before the end of the '69 model run.

Immediately after the '69 F63,999 serial numbers, supposedly the '70 model serial numbers pick up in August, 1969 with serial numbers G30,000 through G49,999.

The '70 model serial numbers supposedly don't hit the 70 thousands until much later in March, 1970 with units H70,000-H89,999.

Are these serial numbers listed correctly or, are they in error?

I can't say definitively that the factory never installed lighted side marker lights on the bed of a '69 model but, I've never seen a pre-'70 model with factory installed lighted side markers on the bed. If such an animal does exist, I would be interested in seeing a documented '69 with them installed by the factory.

DRC, Thank you I'm pretty proud of it I wasn't sure how they would turn out being the first one I have ever done but I like! I got the cover from MAC's antique auto parts I believe. Are you about to redo your seat?
