v-10 lifter issues and then some
I own 6 Ford trucks 3 of which are v10 gas motors in F450s. The reason behind this is that i own a repo company and v10 are QUIET at 2am. LOL Here is my issue. all 3 trucks at approx. 85000 to 110000 miles i seem to be getting a tapping issue under the hood. The good part is that its covered under ESP warranty all of the time. But my A truck started tapping at approx 93000 miles on and it bent a push rod and 2 rockers a couple of valves all replaced at no cost to me.. A month later my B truck same issue. bent push rods. rockers/lifters. replaced NO CHARGE Now the Third C truck 95000 miles. At Ford for lifters and push rods. ALL 6 of my trucks get oil changes at Ford dealer on a regular basis 3-5 thousand miles is what Ford recommends.
I called Ford to see if they would give me stats on how many v10 gas lifter issues they have had. They wont give me that info but it was worth a try. So here i am asking anyone here that has has similar issues with their fleet of trucks or personal trucks.
I personally think that its DRIVER ABUSE!! Fast take offs Hard Braking idling etc!! If anyone here has some insight that would be a great. I monitor my drivers with GPS in all trucks. YES there is plenty of idling and driving fast. Which i am working on getting handled. But if anyone else has had this issue i would love to know what to do about it. OR!! is it flat out driver abuse? or is it a Ford issue? Any insight would help. Thank you!!

If the trucks get a lot of idle time you should be tracking the engine hours, not going by mileage. You could be doing 4k or 5k mile OCIs but have the hours comparable to 15k miles.
