So I had my truck sitting in my driveway idling while I loaded some wheels in the bed. It slowly died off from what seems to be fuel loss. I have a see through fuel filter at the carb and it was dry.
I flipped the switch to the auxiliary fuel tank and went to crank it and it seems like the motor won't turn at all. What are the chances the motor seized from running lean that little bit?? The truck was more or less cool as I had just started it probably 10 mins before.
Unfortunately I think it's much deeper then that. It could be possible that my starter died at the same time it shut off maybe but I put the jump pack on it and nothing. Battery is new
Slowly dies off sounds like fuel issue and not electrical or a seized motor. Electrical issue is a quick shut off. A seized motor is usually preceded by a knock, rattle, thump or bang, so I doubt it is seized.
Get a breaker bar and the correct socket for the crank pulley bolt (13/16 or 15/16?) and turn it over (clockwise) just a bit by hand, to make sure it is not.
Double ck your battery terminals and your fusible link. Then pull the starter and take it and get it bench tested at a local parts store.
Clear filter will not always be full of fuel. Could of been a fuel filter that is clogged up or a fuel pump that dies.
Troubleshooting so start fuel and elec issues at the same time is a PITA.
I had a starter go out on me completely out of the blue the other day too.
It cranked up fine that morning, I drove to napa to order something unrelated, went to start the truck and it was stuck solid.
For some reason the bendix went bad and got caught in the flex plate.
