Question on leveling the front end out.

I just picked up a great 87 F-150. However the "rake" of the vehicle just isnt my thing. Im not really wanting to put a great expensive system in. Since the vehicle is two wheel drive it has that rake. is there any way i could just put in bigger springs and shocks from a 4x4 front end to level the vehicle out? Or should I break down and purchase a front end levelling kit. I just need to know if its structurally sound and can be done and not hinder the vehicles safety.

You can simply put in a leveling spring, have an alignment, and ta-da, you are done. Usually with an 1 1/2"-2" leveling spring you won't need new shocks, but when you're in there anyway and they're partially off, why not get it done?

I'm measuring 34 3/4 inches on the rear and 31 1/2 on the front. Does that mean I need a 2- 3 inch spring rather than a 1 inch leveling spring?

That's how I would buy the new springs.

You will run into problems with alignment if you raise the front too much. Id lower the rear.
