good laugh
I did have an experience not long ago that i will cherish forever, I was in provo, UT going to the mall with my family and stopped at a stop light, a new and really shiny corvette convertable pulled along side of us, it was purple with a black top, the driver had head phones on and was bouncing his head around.(probably to some chevy love sound) When the light changed i put my foot in it, the greastest thing happpened about a 500 feet down the road when he broke his neck looking at this huge boat truck that was still right beside him. Its a real shame when a 50,000 dollar sports car has to be down shifted to pull away from a crewcab truck, long live ford power, the best really don't rest. any of you big truck drivers have any funny story's please write in, i work with some dedicated chevy lovers and some ricerocket drivers, would really love to share some real life with them, thanks.
Really sorry about getting ya all rilled up, i could send some pepsid for that heart burn.

I read this post and HAD to reply. I have a 2000 C5, on which I've added a $40 K&N Conical filter. I've run a best 12.43 @ 113 in good weather with drag radials....12.57 on street tires. My friend has a SALEEN 281SC, which is supposed to put out 365 HP. I drove both his car and mine at the dragstrip on one HOT August night.....the best the Saleen would do is 13.97....my vette? On that night....13.04.....so you see, I dont' what kind of crack you're smoking, but your information is extremely skewed!!!
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I don't mean to put you down, BUT this is a really STUPID thing to do...
I hope that your wife and kids were SCREAMING at you to slow down DADDY, PLEASE don't get us HURT...
GROW UP !!!
Don't Be a #####HEAD!
Save the racing for the track, that way you only kill yourself!
And your kids will only cry at your loss, and not thier pain...
Anybody that tries to compare a Mustang to a Vette or Viper because the Mustang *almost* can accelerate as well is nuts...The Mustang is a much lower class vehicle and can't touch either on the levels of handling or ergonomics.
If you don't believe me, look at your overpriced Type R Mustang that gets smoked by a Vette that costs $14K less.

Mustang is the best seller in the model T's class? Well that does explain a lot.

HAHAHA thats funny. My $7k 1988 STOCK Corvette woops up on new mustangs left and right. 14 years and Ford still can't make a fast production v8???
Hell in 14 years Chevy went from 250 hp to 405. Hell NEW V6 Camaros and Firebirds are faster then 5.0 Mustangs. That HAS TO HURT...
Blue oval sucks just admit it!
They make good trucks, well they used to. 1970's Ford Trucks were the best and still are.

IT ALSO LEANS ALOT ON DRIVER COMPETENCE AS FAR AS ETA TIMES ARE CONCERNED...DONT FORGET THAT IMPORTANT FACT.
And as for sales, gee, the cheap mustang outsells the expensive vette, surprise surprise. Just about every Honda model outsells both combined. Absolutely meaningless info.
As for mods, everyone knows full well that you can make a riding mower go faster than any stock car out there for enough $$$, but that don't mean it will out handle, out break, out last, out comfort, out protect, or out style the competition.
And for the tale of the original poster. In case you had not noticed, the truck you drive is several times larger than a vette. Perhaps you are the exception, but would you cruise along side a semi in your beast? Not likely.
Real story. Vette and monster truck at light side by side. Vette driver, minding his own business proceeds at the green at a casual pace and does the 1'st to 4th gear shift. Fool in truck nails gas to stay in ever so annoying wingman position. Vette driver, noticing huge truck playing wingman, drops from fourth to third at 40 mph and gives it half throttle to get away from the menace. Insecure truck driver thinks he's intimidated a vette with his power, when instead it was nothing more than his girth and his being in the way for an upcoming turn. Vette never expends any effort or power in passing truck.
BTW, a 1 second time in the quarter translates to a substantial distance and huge performance difference. Ever wathced the olympics? Athletes will do anything to shave a thousandth of a second from a human powered event. 1 second is a slaughter. Haven't even discussed the capabilities in a road course versus a 1/4 mile.
Get outta your truck and into a real sports car. Unless your so drunk as to have dulled the sense, you would mess your pants with the difference.
Ford Lightning? Ain't it a shame that a Ford truck outperforms the closest thing Ford has to a sports car? And while quite nimble in a 1/4 mile, try taking it to the track! Oh yeah, the performance mods make it nearly useless as a pickup truck with it's reduced payload and towing capacity! It's a truck in body style only.
This entire discussion is as ludicrous as arguing that the world is round and not flat.
Ford trucks, the preffered vehicle of pizza delivery drivers!
