This is a little something I do to my vehicles when I buy them.... Just finnally got around to it on my psd.
Duration: 1 beer (or longer if you desire).
Items needed:
2 3/16" vacuum / washer hose splices
Approximately 15' of 3/16" id washer hose.
Zip ties.
Procedure:
1. Cut ww line near the cap but 1 or 2 inches on the really flexible part of the existing ww hose.
2. Using a splice, splice the line with the new hose and lay across cowling as shown. Lay line to near oil dip sticks.
3. Gently remove existing ww hood connections and flip the hose setup so that the hose supply line is now on the drivers side. The hose holder canbe slid up to use a different hood hole as shown.
4. Using care and patience, wrap about 10' of your ww line around the top radiator hose for the engine without kinking or pinching the line. Wrap it tightly but not so tight that the hose id collapses...gently zip tie both ends to keep the coil snug against the hose. Try to locate ww hose such that it will not cause rubbing.
5. Using a splice, hook up washer nozzles. Try to leave enough lead so that the hose doesn't hook something when opening the hood.
Congrats you now have an inexpensive heated windshield wash system.
You need to print off these directions, then box up the needed parts. Buying in bulk it should cost you about $4 per kit to do so. Then start selling these on an infomercial on late night TV. You could sell them for $49.95 each. But wait, there's more. If they order in the next 30 minutes you will double the order (just pay separate shipping and handling). Of course the separate S/H would be $17.95.
Good idea. I have to change out a washer head anyway, it broke right at the hose connection. Anybody else ever had this happen? The parts guy said it's pretty common, he sells the washer nozzles all the time to county maintenance department, their trucks are always breaking them for some reason.
