Sorry to repeat myself guys but do we know if the C code and B code have a different lift? I can't seem to find any info on this anywhere. Thanks

I've said it a few times before that if you're replacing worn factory springs with used Super duty springs, then anything is an upgrade. If you're buying new from Ford, then study the rates to your hearts content!

B 320/670, transitions at ~1650 lbs
SRW C 330/650, transitions at ~1800 lbs
DRW C 350/730, transitions at ~1800 lbs

From Ford the cheapest new spring is the B spring, at least when I did my swap.

With my new from Ford SRW C's, I have a slight rake with new V's up front and that's using the stock Excursion block.

^thanks Sean! It's difficult to say what lift you'll get from any spring because nobody knows how worn your current springs are. I believe V's in front with mod B's in back net a rake similar to factory (someone correct me if I'm wrong). If so, my "as delivered" from Ford SRW C codes with the stock block net a similar factory rake if not slightly more. To make it more confusing there is a 20 mm variance on the springs so that coupled with your current ride height and if your using used springs = difficult to predict the gain. The only certainty is that any spring you put on should be a big improvement.

So can I run V front and mod C in rear and not have too much rake or would I need to add a leaf to the front? I currently have brand new Ford V springs and was debating if I should get ATS modified C code for the back or sell the V codes and do X/C

You don't need to mod the C codes if they are SRW. If you run ATS I'm not sure what you'll get for ride height, seems most but front and rear from them and are happy.

Call Junior at ATS and have a quick conversation with him as to what you are doing. He will help you out.

Junior will help set you straight. I have the modified C codes from them in the rear and their x codes up front. It is level. You may need a new adjustable trac bar up front as well. I sure need one as my springs are pulled over to the sides of the spring pockets up front. Night and day difference in ride and so much better when towing heavy. Best thing I have done to the Ex

ATS X/C mods and love'em! LOVE'EM! LOVE'M!

The rake front to rear is about 3 inches. Looks like an old muscle car stance!

Junior has a nice package.....setup that is! Front/Rear springs and new hardware at an awesome price.

Ride is night and day difference! Towing with is to!

Junior explains the spring rate and how the 1st/2nd rate works so us non-spring minded folks can understand it!

For those running X codes in the front and Modded Cs in the rear, how satisfied are you with your setup? Is the ride harsh or smooth? I have been speaking with Junior from ATS about this and this is one option he gave me. I don't tow much and mainly use it for the family so I wanted something stable, firm yet comfortable as a truck can be. I do plan in the future to add a replacement front bumper or a winch so the added weight up front is something to keep in mind. Below I'll list the three options ATSJunior gave me. If you were in my shoes which would you go with and why?

Option 1: V/C code swap
Option 2: X code up front and ATS modded C in the rear
Option 3: X code up front & replacement C code in the rear WITH a taller block

Ruben, if you plan to go with a front winch at some point along with a heavier bumper then you will want the X codes for the front. They were the springs used on snow plow prepped Super Duty trucks to support the added weight of the plows, your winch and bumper along with the PSD may be a bit much for V codes.

Thanks for the reply, that's what I think too. Where did you get your modded X/Bs from and how does it ride?

My X/Bs were a free gift from a coworker. He had removed them with 20k miles when he lifted his pickup and they were still sitting in his garage. He was very happy to get rid of them to get the space back, he even delivered them to my house! I have about $70 invested in my spring swap, new U bolts and 4 new center bolts.

My setup does have a pretty firm ride but that was what I wanted. Our Ex is now a dedicated tow rig for the most part and with the heavy TT in tow the ride is pretty good.

I like the firmer ride that is less sloppy than the factory setup. If I were never going to tow I would not have went with the modded C for the rear though. V/B is great for people hauling from what I can read.

Can't go wrong with ATS X/modded C. I was having the same dilemma and I'm glad I sold the V codes and went with X/C.
