Hey guys, Merry Christmas. Wondering if there are any regular cab SRW trucks out there with a nice flat bed? I'm pondering building one for my '90 F250 rather than repairing the box right now. It would be more handy than the box in some cases because it gets use as a farm truck from time to time... Hoping there are some pics of what you guys may have come up with over the years...
There are a few members that have done what you are thinking of doing. I'm sure someone will post some pics up for you. If not you may be able to find some by using the search.
Unfortunately I don't have any pics, but the farm around the corner from my house has an F350 from every generation, fitted with a flatbed. 7th, 8th, 9th, etc gens, all 4WD, reg cab flatbeds. I think they look sweet; the older ones have steel flatbeds, but the newer ones are all EBY aluminum. Aluminum is definitely more money, but depending how long your are going to keep the truck, and whether or not you're in the rust belt would help you weigh that out.
My 89 F250 and 92 f250 both with custom built flatbeds.
The 89s is a lot more complex and is made out of 1/4" steel. The bed sagged the rear of the truck so much it is level with the sagged front end. Unfortunetly the pic I have doesn't do much justice because of the water tank being full.
The 92 is a cheaply built one that I need to do some slight modifying to, to make it more for what I need.

Sounds like you have a little task to do...with a camera

Looked through your thread. I like the hoist idea, it had crossed my mind with this deck also, but I think I would like to keep it simple and looking sharp.

Thx for posting. I think what I'm picturing in my head is a combination of what you have on the '89 and '92. I think a flat bed on a drw looks awesome, just hesitant to do it on a srw because it can end up looking kind of corny and out of place IMO. I guess its all how its built and fit.
It's a love hate relationship with my deck... Great for moving big stuff, not so great for DD duties. Would be much better with some underslung boxes, and I may convert it to a dump.
It's on its second truck since I have had it now.
Thanks for the input and pics 82F. I'm not concerned about DD duties as we have a 2015 F150 (my wifes) and 2010 F150 (work truck) for those. I bought the '90 more as a toy/farm truck. I would prefer to fix the rusty box sides and restore it as a pickup, but the usefulness of the deck for so many things is really appealing to me. It also eliminates a whole pile of bodywork lol... Seems like the key to keeping it looking decent is to not stick the deck past the wheels much...
I have a 4 foot boom made up for the plow frame as well, it has lifted many things other than its plow over the years... LOL
The deck couldn't have worked out better, I was within 1/4" of the bolt holes lining up for height.
