Hey y'all I got a 2004 f250 cclb with an 8 inch lift and 37" tires. I just fix a death wobble situation by replacing both outer tie rods with sleeve and drag link ( both tie rods and sleeve). I've adjust the drag link so the steering wheel is straight and the tow is slightly off. The driver side tire was rubbing the leaf spring only when turning max left. After driving the truck not even two miles. When I went to back in the tire did not rub. The axle is shifting horizontally. I checked the ubolts. Ball joints are sound. Anyone have a possible idea of what would allow the axle to shift.
The track bar (Diagonal rod that starts on the driver's side frame and goes to the passenger side of the front axle housing) is what locates the front axle assembly left to right. There are bushings in both ends. I've never seen them wear out, but anything is possible. Is the track bar present ???
What he said, check the track bar and all other axle mounting points (leaf spring bushings and shackles). Have someone steer back and forth while you lay under the front end and watch/feel for any movement.
An 8" lift should have a dropped/relocated track bar frame mount that lowers the track bar frame end mounting point. I have seen where these have worked themselves loose and it will do just like you explained, check the mounting bolts on the drop bracket to the frame.
