Does anyone run E85 in their trucks? And does anyone know if five star has done any tuning in these trucks to advance the timing more for E85 to make more power?
Not sure on the tunes but I don't run it. I don't run it because it's not cost effective. You need to price e85 by btu not dollars per gallon. E85 has approximately 25% less energy than gasoline. Some aftermarket fuel systems estimate almost a 30% difference. I have yet to find e85 priced to be equal value to gasoline, its always more. Higer price and lower milage is a double loss. Only thing good about e85 is the higher octane, about 100 to 105.
That's a better spread than in our area. I have run it before just costs more money, that's the biggest difference I saw.
Yea I agree if there's not a big price difference then it's pointless to run it but 50 cent difference a gallon I would save 17 dollars per fill up. It might just be worth the lost in mpg plus you have more power and tq with a tune.
I ran E85, for a few tankfuls. I noticed an MPG. drop. I didn't notice any difference in power output IMHO.
To me, it's cheaper to put in E85. BUT your going to be refueling more, so what's the point? I'd rather just stick with gas, at least you get a bit more MPG.
I was going to try racing gas but it's 110 Octane, I didn't want to fry valves!
