I have the block heater and it just has the power cord dangling with a cover for the prongs. What are you suing and how well does it work with links if possible. My plug is hard to remove and the cold is rough on my hands so I am thinking something like this on my truck
Just curious where I would mount it. I really don't want to cut a hole in my bumper. Anyone have ideas for a plate or different spot I could mount it? My truck seems to be missing the rubber piece underneath the bumper I would put it there. What about a plate where the tow hook is? I don't have fog lights so maybe there?
I never have good luck drilling a hole into metal, like the bumper, without scratching or the cutter slipping. Any tips?
I would probably go with the plug on the side like SkyskiJason so that way I might not forget to unplug the truck.

I just used masking tape and a hole saw. Be sure to paint the cut to prevent rust and chrome flaking.
Put a cord with a lighted end on plug where I have it and it's hard to miss - even covered in snow.
Supposed to be 47 degrees this Sunday. I might try to order a plug and get it here in time. I can go buy a hole saw blade here in town. I ordered the plug and then a dewalt hole saw blade with the adaptor just because I needed prime shipping. $40 and it should be here Saturday.
What paint should I use on the hole?
Are the screws that come with the outlet ok or do I need different ones for the bumper? I will install mine on the drivers side of the bumper.
I like rustoluem 'rusty metal primer' for stuff like this. The more coats the better!
No need for screws. The Marinco uses a big electrical knock-out type nut to fasten it to the bumper. The screws would help keep it from rotating, but I have never had that problem.
I've had my Marinco plug for years. Even drilled it into my Ranch Hand bumper using a hole saw from Home Depot. Took some time, and the hole saw wasn't worth much when I was done, but it worked.
I'm thinking about mounting mine in the side of the bed above the fuel door using the Amazon.com: NOCO Genius GCP1 Black 13 Amp 125V AC Port Plug: Automotive. Less likely to forget it's plugged in and I need to install a new heater anyway so I figure I might as well brain storm plug location too.
Not sure I'd like that location, but I dig the integrated cord on the NOCO unit! It looks like a better cap design than the Marinco as well. I put old injector o-rings on my Marincos to help them stay closed.
