Death Wobble

I've got a stock 2014 Superduty that has experienced the "death wobble." It first happened at 32000 miles when I took it to the dealership and they charged me $570 to realign the truck even though it has the extended warranty. The truck is now at 40,000 miles and it happened again on the interstate at 80 mph. Has anyone had the dealership actually fix their truck? Cause all the reviews I see are people installing new trackbars and dampeners which I don't think I should be liable to pay for. Any suggestions?

I've been though this with another truck, and the ball joints are considered consummable products as well as the tie rods end fittings. You say you have 40,000, I'd take it to a alignment and frame shop and have them check it out. They can tell you if it's warrentied or not, at least the ones around me will. I had a ball joint that needed to be replaced and the company stood fast in not doing it. I eventually paid 350.00 for an adjustable ball joint, as the one that came with the truck was fixed (non-adjustable). You can try to win, but you will have a long way to go, so if you want to fignt it, start with an independent shop and get a report.

Alignments are not part of your warrenty

Find a new dealer if they charged you that much for an alignment

I wondered when the monthly new 'death wobble' thread would start. Let the (monthly) outrage and arguments begin!

Well when I took it to the dealership at 32,000 I told them to check out the tie rods and ball joints and they said they looked fine. The only thing that the dealership really aligned was the toe which seemed to help at least for 8000 miles. I'm thinking something else is messed up in the suspension too cause even if it's not wobbling the ride is pretty damn rough.

Increase the caster two degrees and it will never do it again

It's a shame so many people complaining for the bouncy ride, death wobble, bad shocks, and Ford says is nothing wrong.
I had to replace my shocks at 16000 miles. I couldn't even get them to pay for the cost of the shocks.
I personally think that the dealerships aren't helping because they are not going to get paid by Ford.

I had the same wobble with my 2012, bought it with 23,000 miles and first ride down the interstate 75 heading back home to Canada I get the death wobble, gave it a few weeks and had it happen once or twice more... that was enough bs for me to install the rancho dual steering stabilizers and haven't had a problem since. bit of peace of mind and maybe it's just me but the front end feels tighter

Bracket Problems

2012 F250 6.7 Turbo Diesel 4WD Crew Cab. SRE.
Standard factory suspension (no lift, etc.)

Additional info:
Recently: New tie rod ends, new front shocks (both), balance, rotate, alighment. All 4 tires to proper pressure.

Have any of you experienced this issue?
If so, what was your solution?

Last month I replaced the factory stabilizer with the Rancho Dual Stabilizer.

At first it was wonderful.
I had no problems with the stretch of road that usually caused the death wobble to occur.

The steering was stiffer, but day after day it got worse to the point where it felt like it was actually sticking.

Took it back to the shop and on the hoist we noticed that the bracket attached to the front axle housing was sitting ON (not close to, but actually ON) the tie rod sleeve, thus putting on pressure and friction.
You could see where the paint was scratched away from the bracket and also scratches in the tie rod sleeve.

They said that the bracket bolts were not torqued sufficiently or that the bolts 'stretched' and they loosened. So, they adjusted the bracket to where it should be and torqued it down 'properly'.

For a few days it seemed better.
Then, driving thru a parking lot doing probably 5 mph (library with lots of kids and people so I was going really slow), I went over a speed bump and felt a clunk. Then immediately the steering was sticking again.

I crawled under and the bracket was again sitting on the tie rod sleeve.

Took it back to the shop and all that they could do was adjust, tighten, repeat.

This is a freaking F250.
I shouldn't have to worry about hitting a bump at 5mph and having steering problems.

Have any of you experienced this problem with this product?
If so, any solutions?

My next step is to have it removed and go back to factory, however that has its own issues.

Thanks.

Mine started doing it too. Completely stock '12 with 40K miles on original shocks and stabilizer. Started about a month ago, only at 55+ mph, and as soon as I hit a rough patch, off she goes and doesn't stop until I get down to about 45 mph. Then it's fine again.

I know my stock shocks are shot, was planning on replacing them this spring, hopefully new shocks and a new stabilizer from Blistein will fix this one.

I had the same problems right around the same milage. I took it to the dealer 3 times before they agreed to fix it. I had the extended warranty, I had to pay about 500 out of pocket. They told me the steering stabilizer was out of adjustment, wouldn't stay in adjustment but didn't mean the criteria to be replaced. This solved the issue.

You don't say how many miles are on the truck. But replacing tie rod ends, I'm guessing it's not low. Steering stabilizers can cover up the problem, but don't solve the underlying problem. You could have a caster issue, but I'm guessing you have wear on your trac bar "ball joint". Many people have bought adjustable trac bar kits that eliminate the ball joint style mount and have eliminated their wobble.
