ICP Pressures...where should they be???

I know this is kinda an open ended question, as each trucks setup will vary.

But Ive had my Edge Insight CTS 2 going for about a week now. I did some research and in reading around on here and some of the other diesel sites, what I found was that about 470psi is the minimum. I even found some things that said the trucks wont start with less than 500.

I have seen mine hit as low as 350, usually the only time I see that is right after im letting totally up off the pedal after average acceleration.

I also saw while idleing numbers from 450-520 when idleing.

So are my pressures bad?? too low??? Im pretty sure the truck had a new HPOP installed in March of last year, I found the reciept in the truck when I bought it, I even called the shop to see if they could tell me which HPOP was installed. But they didnt know for sure, all they said is that the HPOPs they use are better than factory HPOP.

I mean the truck is running fine. Just not sure whats going on here, or if I should even be concerned??

Do you have the ability to log data while driving, accelerating, cruising, coasting?

If so, please log it and post it here.

350 seems a bit low. Does it smoke any?

450-520 is fine for idling.

If the HPOP is new or a good rebuilt one, then the next possible culprit is the IPR and or ICP sensor.

Logging the data will help us determine what, if anything is amiss.

I can do data logs, I will log tomorrows driving and post it here.

No smoking that I have noticed, I get a bit out of the doghouse line I have ran to the rear of the truck, but I believe that is normal.

Just when I thought I had her back to 100% lol

The availability of data acquiring devices has made a generation of vehicular hypochondriacs. One, everyone thinks that they have a problem and two, there is never enough data given.

There is nothing wrong with the pressures you are seeing. The only way to know if there is a problem is to also give the injection pressure regulator commanded output duty cycle value because a simple value of "xxx PSI" means absolutely nothing.

Granted.

Is this the same as IPRDC%?

For fueling, you look at ICP DC (IPR), ICP, FIPW, and RPM. I say RPM because when the engine is spinning faster, the ICP rides a little higher in relation to the IPR signal. FIPW determines how long the injector applies fuel, and ICP is how hard it's squeezing the fuel through the nozzle.

Norms when warm at idle on a stock truck: ICP about 500 PSI, IPR about 10%, FIPW about 2.8 ms, RPM about 700.

It does. Injection Control Pressure is the hydraulic pressure to the oil side of the injectors. The HPOP is nothing more than a small, fixed displacement hydraulic pump. The pressure is regulated by the IPR, Injection Pressure Regulator, by controlling how much oil is vented back to the crankcase.

So the IPR or gate is closed when pressure is high and opened when pressure needs to be lowered.

So when you say this, what program \ programs do you use to get your info? How would one diagnose say a lazy IPR? I am having a issue of late with a long crank to start up. At first I knew I had a low fuel pressure issue due to a piece of junk in #4 injector o ring. When I fixed that my fuel pressure is now top rate. Now my HPOP numbers start to drop as the truck warms. When I was hot torquing the injectors I could hear a gurgle that sounded like a shower drain on shut down. Is that the IPR?
