The wiring sounds good. Same way I have my lights set up.

Yep the only thing that will be unique is that the battery power going out to the high beams will be branched off to the two relays for my Aux. lights as triggers. This way the On/Off/On switch will allow me to supply ground to none, just the flood lights on the front, or to the flood lights and spot lights when the high beam is activated.

That's about the opposite of mine lol. I wired it up so all the lights come on with high beams, every time. Or I can turn on outside pair, or inside pair, at any time. My thought was that if I'm using my high beams, I want all the light.

Same here but the problem is when I go in for inspection for safety if all the lights come on every time with the high beam it would fail as the light are offroad only. So I have a plan to use a three position switch to switch the ground on and off so I can use highbeams with or without the lights. I generally keep it in the on position but during inspection I will be flipping it off.

Just a thought....I just bought a set of 5.5" Unity spotlights for the A-pillars on mine. I'm now thinking of buying a pair of just the light heads to use as road lights because they do throw out a considerable beam. I'm sure i will encounter the same wiring issues as you are so i'm watching this thread to see what your ultimate decision is. Back in the 50's, they would put a negative side switch in the glove box for the passenger side spotlight because in Ohio, it was illegal to have an operating spotlight on the passenger side.

Wiring I think I am fairly much set on. Just trying to find a box that is not over kill for my needs and deciding if I should upgrade to 7" lights or stick with the 4 1/2" ones I have now but see if I can get them in spot lights or maybe even a 90W version over a 42W version.


I still am leaning towards the 7" ones as they have a mask that clips on that turns six LED chips to flood lights while keeping the others as spot lights so you get a combo effect. Plus they are also 90W vs the 42W I have now.


So far the only thing that keeping me from settling on this is that I am not too sure how it would look on the front mount I have. I am thinking too big, which is no big deal cause I could always use them on the roll bars I plan to install down the road. But I also don't want to tie up $150 on two lights that will be sitting for months or possibly years if I don't like how they look on the front mount. Think I will cut out a 7" circle at work after lunch out of some cardboard I have and hold it up to see what I am looking at size wise.

Gotcha....I have a set of 7"- 100w chrome dunebuggy headlights that were on a bullbar on a truck i used to have. The size (around) looked proportionate to the truck but the depth of the housing was too deep (bullet shaped). Some rodders used these on '32,etc. Fords as well as on rollbars. The newer lights have a shallower housing. I understand the LED's for Amp usage but i went to a 170a alternator because of my dual batteries so i shouldn't have an issue with power drain. I also have a set of rectangular Jeep bumper mount lights with the stone guards that have the 100w upgrade. I'm torn between keeping the rectangle lights up front to match the headlights, or matching the roadlights to the round spotlights.
I guess what it boils down to is...what looks right to you.
