halogen driving lights over regular (incandescent?)
I wanna line my headache rack above my 77 with driving lights, Im looking at some here from princess auto, they are 100w 6 inch spot lamps (clear lense) They dont make any mention about them being halogen or not, these arnt a name brand light like PIAA etc. cause those types are damn near $100 a light, these ones go on sale for about $20 each. I thought a 100w light is a fairly good size but am i gonna be disapointed?
Probably, just depends on how far you want to see. It seems like the high end lights make note of their attention to the lens and reflector, thus the cost.
Those $20 lights probably use the readily available H-4 (?) halogen lamp. A handfull would do a fine job of illuminating close range, but no better than your stock high beams. Best tip I had for a low-buck improvement was to replace the old head lights with new halogen units. A few years of chips and scratches in the glass lens makes a big difference.
