Need some tips on isolating coolant leak to be water pumps. I had the mystery coolant leak that turned out to be the turbo fitting that I replaced. Based on the rubber grommet condition and the coolant down the bell housing, I'm confident that was the original issue LAST WEEK. Well sure enough, THIS WEEK, still missing coolant and no drips on concrete when shut down and idling....SO besides a leak test at dealer, what is best way to determine if it's a water pump leak? I'm prepared to replace both primary and secondary, but just want to confirm where leak is since I've had no luck finding the leak thus far. Any suggestions?!
An air pocket that burped is the first thought that comes to my mind.
Other than that get a pressure tester (auto zone or competitor will rent you one)and crawl underneath and give a through inspection. That's all the dealer will do.
Finally caught a break.....coolant has held consistent for a week now so I'm guessing Chad was right and the system burped after I had replaced the turbo fitting.
I'm about to change the serpentine belt over the holidays, what are your recommendations on replacing water pump or pumps at the same time. Not trying to throw money away by any means, but i've heard the belt is a bit difficult to weave around and don't want to be doing it again right away.
