Friday night car scene
My town has a population of about 14,000 and had 350 people leave in past year it's dying so fast. When I was driving my '52 around I felt like I was the king of the road being one of 2 or 3 with a vehicle older than the mid '60s trucks here. This summer I noticed a few of those '55-'57 chebbys running around regularly with a few late '50s chebby trucks. There is also a '41 Ford pickup that had just gotten out of the shop (really nice) and being driven around along with a '33 Ford tudor.
Well everyone told me that there was some guys that cruise around on what I guess is the new drag as some little car club or something. One the second to the last weekend here I actualy went out and see this "car club". They lined an entire side of our Sonic We have a big Sonic for a small town) and one of the cars was one of the 10 origional Shelby AC Cobras with an auto! Goodness, where where all these at when I was in high school.
On the way to a friends house shortly after looking over the cars we pulled up to a stoplight right next to a lowered, primed, and flamed '49 Ford buisness coupe. I yelled out the window and asked him about his engine and I think I confused him (don't think he even knew what a flathead was). Claimed he had just got the car that day and didn't know anything about the engine.
I just thought that I would share this with you. It was an amazing experience. Anyone else have a car scene in their town popping up?
