I have the chance to get a 77 Trans Am steering column , bucket seats console and complete front frame. The best thing is the price...free. !!!! Has any one ever used this combination on a 53-56 Effie? What issues will arrive in fabbing the front Trans am frame to the 55?
With a price like this I'd really like to be able to use the pieces.
Keep in mind that this is from a guy who has talked to a lot of guys who have done it, never done it myself. You are in for a long install time. Putting the front bumper/radiator support is a P.I.T.A. It will handle like a go cart and be perfectly safe if welded professionally. Your front bumper willl be in the dirt and Fergy will admire you.
Or you could save up some of your building inspector bribes and spring for a Volare. Your call.
I do have access to some K car stuff at a nominal price but thought if I could use the trans am stuff, it would be kinda cool and cheap. I know the volare has been done umpteen hundreds of times and there is the video (our groups equivalent of "I saw it in a book"). Better stick to that. I'm gonna continue amassing parts and $ and over the winter, rebuild the 302, do the Volare shuffle and install the trans am steering column...maybe pedals and master cylinder too !
