Maybe I should have specified lol
Will a ford V8 fit
My first build
I'm a rookie
But I'll have guidance
What would be my best choice for high performance engine?

What is your budget? Speed costs money. The more power you make the more money it will cost due to beefing up the drivetrain to handle it.
.... first you build and engine, then you look for the vehicle to put it in.
seriously tho, you can put in anything you want.... want the new 5.0 that's in the new mustangs. that swap is roughly 14,500-20,000 k.
want a 460? sure it pops in cause its the same "frame" as the f-250-350's *dimensions*
want a 351/302? "5.8/5.0" drop it in, wiring and fuel all changes on depending on what you want or what you have.
so lets say you have a 6 cyl.....
ok next ask your self this...
is this truck sentimental.... hold value to you....
if your answer is no.... then there is no need to continue.
save your money for a better platform.
ok so this 6 cyl is of value. Excellent, you have joined the ranks of few that have embarked on making these trucks live.
start from scratch. make sure what ever power you do decide on putting in is not going to kill you.
ie its best to have brakes that can work and not go to the floor everytime.
or
my floor has a hole the size of a drum lid, and the seats are barely mounted.
before you go fast, make sure its safe to go fast.
also if you have to ask about pricing, best way to get there is to set a budget.
or Don't. but the don't part is where you can go easily above 40k in a heartbeat.
ask me how I know.
not trying to discourage you but you have lots of thinking to do before you get committed.
