I had / have the same similar issue with my V10 Ex but it would not bubble out the coolant jug. it would hydro lock the engine. Put some head gasket/brock sealer in it and it lasted about a year and a half before it did it again at which time I bought some better stuff and it has been in it for about 9 months now with no issues. Eventually I will do a full rebuild on the engine but with 196,000 miles I don't see putting new head gaskets on a engine with that many miles on it. I used to get the milky oil filler cap and have to add coolant form time to time but since I did it the second time I have not had those issues anymore. I do have the head gasket set and will be getting a new timing chain set I just hate to do all that and then something goes out on the bottom end.

From my reading, the bottom end is stout if cared for. However if it has been ran with moisture contamination for any length of time all bets are off and a full rebuild might be best. I experimented with block sealant on my 04 Mountaineer and had very limited results. Ended up swapping in a used engine. When I pulled the heads off to see what went wrong, you can see how that sealant works...and lets just say, it makes a big mess and I won't experiment anymore.

Ok got my compression guage. BTW the auto store around my area are terrible. They don't even bother to look for the rental tool. In fact it's funny how many eye rolls I got just asking for a rental tool.

It took 4 store until I could finally get someone professional enough. Then I just bought the darn tool.

Anyway what am I looking for pressure wise

160 -180 I THINK but more than anything you are looking for them ALL to be with in 20 PSI of each other.
Around here there are no rental tools, You buy the USED tool & then return it...

Not what I meant. The rental fee is the cost of the tool & you have something like 20, 30 days to return it...If you don't, you own it.

A spread of 20 is what you're looking for. Low numbers in adjacent cylinder cylinders could indicate a leaky or bad head gasket amidst other things.

Don't go for that junker motor. If this is the only issue yours is having, you can be up and running for less than $300 parts and fluids.
