replacing fuel tank with larger one

so i have a leak on my 98 f150, stock tank is 24g, i have been looking and have noticed that there is a 30 gallon tank that can be installed, but you need longer tank straps. has anyone used the bigger tank on there truck, and also what about the fuel pump, do they rest on the bottom of the tank or are they suspended a little, the 30 gallon tank is 2" deeper so just wondering about that.

Yes...if you want the bigger tank , odds are you probably will need the corresponding fuel pump....otherwise you would get very little advantage to the bigger tank. You'd end up leaving more fuel in the tank when the pick up tube would be high and dry , in effect not getting the added miles the bigger tank should yeild.

The fuel pump NEEDs to be submerged in fuel to help keep it cool during operation, so yes it is mounted so the pick-up & pump is very close to the bottom of the tank.

You could check it out ...it very well might be the same pump /gage assembly inside the larger tank in comparison to the smaller tank?? IDK. Odds are, the stand pipe tube length from mounting flange to where the pump and pick-up tube or strainer sock would need to be longer for the larger tank.

Is this a factory tank or after market?

hey thanks for the response, i think you may be right with the fuel pump, and if i need a new pump, might as well just replace with a stock tank, would be nice to be able to drive a longer distance, but gas stations are everywhere lol.
the tank i am looking at is an aftermarket tank that i am looking at, here is a link
