Meyer Plow lighting insight

I wa wondering if anyone has a Meyer plow setup installed? I was under the impression that when the plow headlights were on the truck headlights were able to be turned off rather than run both. To the best of my knowledge I have it hooked up correct.
From what I remember without looking:
Black plow-brown truck is parking lights
Yellow plow-white truck is turn signals
Brown plow-red/black truck is low beam
Blue and Pink-green/black truck is high beam.

Is it wrong to run both lights at the same time? According to Meyer or at least I think this the way they wanted it.

I am pretty sure you do not run the actual truck headlights due to glare off the back of the plow? Park lights yes, headlights no.

Yea that's what I thought but don't you agree with the schematic that it's not possible? With the plow lights on if I turn the headlights off all go out. Of course the parking lights do stay on with the parking lights. With the plow lights getting power from the high and low beam I'm not sure how that would work.

Could you just pull the plugs on the stock headlights? I installed a headlight relay kit on mine and one of the stock plugs is used to power the relays, the other is simply unplugged and taped out of the way.

The switch (number 8) in the harness is supposed to let you switch between the truck's headlights and the plow's headlights. You'll also have high and low beams on the plow lights that are controlled by your truck high beam switch. I just went thru the same thing on my '79 with a Western set up. The Meyers set up is essentially the same.

I could pull the plugs but I do not keep the plow on all the time. I like to be able to use the factory lights normally.

I do have the switch installed and it does turn the plow headlights on and off. My dimmer does dim the plow lights when dimming the headlights. I just would like to be able to turn the plow lights on while headlights off and still have dimming capability. I'm worried it's too much of a draw with 4 headlights on basically. I'm going to go test it on high beams and see if it kicks the breaker.

Well after a quick drive I'd say I'm going to be pulling the plugs while the plow is on. I didn't make it too far before it started kicking the breaker. If I was smarter I'd put a separate circuit with a relay just for the headlights but I'm no electrical guru.

LMC has a premade harness with separate relays for low and high beams with direct pull from the battery - does not run all that amperage draw through the stock headlight and dimmer switches.

I know LMC isn't the preferred source for many things, but I am happy with how mine fit and works.

PA74F250, my Western harness had me unplug the truck harness from the trucks headlights. I used the drivers side plug to power the plow harness and the plow harness plugged back into the trucks headlights. Here's my diagram for reference. You essentially use the trucks headlight socket to power the plows harness which will allow you to select the trucks headlights or the plow's headlights. You shouldn't have both on at the same time if it's wired up right.
