2001 E450 7.3L Intercooler Questions?

2001 E450 7.3L Intercooler Questions?
Like my user name, I'm a E450 newbie. Newbie to Power Strokes all to gather. My Question, I understand that the E series has no intercooler? Is this correct? How does this effect the performance of the 7.3? Is there a away to put one on it if there isn't one? I know, Newbie questions..lol Please bare with me. Have also been told that the performance of the E series is pretty for off from other 7.3's. What is an economical way to increase performance on these E series without breaking the bank. For future reference. Still have to fix running issues at hand. Thanx in advance!
